The Bachelor Season 17 Episode 1 The Bachelor is an original one hour prime-time reality television series that gives one man and 25 women the unique opportunity to find true love in a most exciting and adventurous way. Tim Tebow, the then-quarterback of Denver Broncos was approached but never signed an agreement.[2] Another potential candidate was Lamar Hurd, a sportscaster from Portland, Oregon, who was vying to become the first African-American Bachelor.[3] Several speculated candidates included The Bachelorette season 6 winner Roberto Martinez, Lowe's fellow The Bachelorette castmate Arie Luyendyk, Jr. (who was the runner-up of his season) and eleven-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte.[4] Luyendyk dropped out to focus on his racing career.
